The recommended kit for a rifleman is a general-purpose ammunition and small-gear load that suits most tasks.
The base load is made up of single or double magazine pouches that mount on the MOLLE rows of a plate carrier or combat belt and hold the magazine in place with MXFriction lining, without a flap or a bungee. A drop pouch gives a spent magazine somewhere to go immediately, instead of being dropped and lost.
The carrying platform is a two-layer combat belt and a plate carrier set, which spread the weight of the mounted pouches evenly across the shoulders and waist. A card pouch can be added for small documents and tools where needed.
